At 18, Leonie and Marlene are best friends, convinced that nothing in the world can tear them apart. But then Leonie falls in love with Naomi, and as she immerses herself in her first great love, she drifts further away from Marlene. However, Leonie increasingly finds the relationship with Naomi overwhelming, and only after their breakup does she realize how much she has isolated herself.
